Project Team
Responsibility for realizing the vision of a reinvigorated and vibrant Anacostia Waterfront is occurring through the integrated planning and implementation efforts of the District government, scores of stakeholders groups and thousands of residents. The four main District agencies that are chiefly responsible for implementing the Anacostia Waterfront improvements include:
- The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). DMPED oversees and coordinates implementation of the District's economic development programs and projects;
- The District's Department of Transportation (DDOT). DDOT is responsible for planning, designing, constructing and maintaining the District's streets, pedestrian, bicycle and bridge investments; and
- The District's Office of Planning (OP). OP is the central planning agency for the District and was the lead agency for the development of the Anacostia Waterfront Framework Plan; and
- The District's Department of the Environment (DDOE). DDOE provides programs and services that protect human health and the environment and address energy efficiency issues for all sectors of the city.
